Zurich, 01.06.2022 – A hydrogen ecosystem is currently being created in Switzerland that will concretely implement the decarbonisation of road transport via heavy-duty fuel cell commercial vehicles. The first series-produced fuel cell commercial vehicles from Hyundai Motor Company are an important building block for this. Currently, 47 Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell are in operation in Switzerland, having covered more than 3.5 million kilometres in just 18 months.

The worldwide interest in this project is already reflected in concrete enquiries from transporters and companies in neighbouring countries, especially Germany, where Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility AG (HHM) founded a wholly owned subsidiary in April this year.

Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility Germany GmbH (HHM Germany), based in Freising, near Munich, is already operational.

With Frank Sreball as Managing Director, the company has been able to win over an experienced and well-connected manager from the field of hydrogen and environmental technology. The 56-year-old graduate physics engineer with management experience at all levels of the company knows the German market and mobility in the field of fuel cell technology very well.

Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility Germany GmbH is responsible for the distribution of Hyundai’s heavy-duty fuel cell commercial vehicles in Germany and also forms the link to the EU economic area.

The launch of at least 20 new Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell is planned for the current year in Germany.
